After a tedious time of supporting raising that seemed like it would be impossible for me to make it God provided for everything just two days before I leave. Which meant that I had to quickly rush to wrap up things.By his grace yet again May 15th came and I was ready to hit the road for a very adventurous 3 months missions trip with 11 people from all over the world going around Southern Africa.
“The Africa Trek is discipleship on the move that aims to disciple participants through exposure to rural and least-reached African communities; deepen their intimacy with God; and help them become effective disciple-makers.”
Finally after a 14 hours bus drive from Gaborone I arrived in Windhoek, where I slept at a host family and the next day I left for a 4 hours drive to Swakopmund to meet the team that had already went ahead without me since I was going to arrive late in the evening.
The first weeks of the Trek we had a training,we had some teachings and team building activities to prepare us for the coming adventure.
Once a week we would have a day off,to relax ,talk to people back at home and tour around. Below are off days captured moments:
After an awesome two weeks of training we headed to a rural village North West of Namibia called Okanguati, amongst the unevangelised people group called the Himba.
In this village we were involved in different ministries like; helping to run a Youth camp, we had prayer walks , we ran a kindergarten ,we showed the Jesus’s film in schools as well going to encourage the young people in one of the schools to share the gospel as we strongly felt that the Lord will use these young people to reconcile all the people of this village to himself.
Our host , Mrs Autja does amazing things with the young people whom she disciples and teaches them to seek God for themselves. At the end of our stay in Namibia she had the young pray for us and speak into our lives as the Lord enabled them,it was amazing to see how these young people were acting in the power of the Holy Spirit and prophesying upon our lives. I never knew that 13 year olds could be in such a committed, intimate and mature relationship with God.
- One of the things we did was to share our live stories which was something new and uncomfortable for me since I never like talking about some aspects of my life,But all in all this was good as it brought healing to me and it showed me the power of transparency and the freedom found in putting things in the light . Whatever we bring to the light has no hold on us James 5:16.
- The one thing that stuck to me was about generational curses,it gave me the opportunity to break the curses in my life,be it the things that people might have said or what I have confessed upon my life.I was also encouraged to be careful about the words I say since life and death are in the power of the tongue.
- God was challenging me on the importance of memorising scripture.Living by Faith. Through this,I have been seeing God stretch me and use me in ways I could not imagine.Indeed God equips those whom he calls and he just wants us to be obedient.
- One of my favourite highlights was seeing myself operating in the spirit.God giving me a word of encouragement or word of knowledge to people. It has been my desire for the longest time
It has been an amazing time all in.God just wants yielded and obedient people.I testy to this.He does it through me and he can do it through you!
